Egress II
Egress II (5/21/2025)
Sean D'lo Finally brings his newest mixtape Egress II. 16 tracks adorn this mixtape with soulful production, booming 808s, and trap elemetns, melding together to craft D'lo's signature sound. What's impressive about this project is that D'lo boasts the most production credits of any producer on the project, and he hasn't even been producing for a year yet at time of release. With the earliest beat he's made on this mixtape stemming from one month into his production journey (Dream State (Interlude) & Still Dreamin'), D'lo shows that not only is he an elite level MC waiting to be crowned, but he is also a future great in the production realm as well.
This mixtape gets it's beginning from mid 2024, but it really roots back to 2017. Back in 2017, while D'lo was still a junior in high School, he made a mixtape called Egress, which was inspired by an episode of Adventure Time called Hall of Egress. D'lo was inspired by this episode and his position in life at the time to
craft something more honest and vulnerable than anything he'd ever done up to that point. Not only that, but he was considering giving up music at the point. The project symbolized a cross roads to him. "Do I stop or keep going? Do I give up or go harder than ever" D'lo states was the though process going into this. He decided to put as much of himself as he could into this project seeing that he'd either be going out on a strong note, or continuing his journey with one of his strongest pieces ever.
"I was at a similar place with this one", D'lo remarks. As he says, it was time for him to move things up a level and to push harder and further with this project than he ever has before. So he challenged himself in song writing, in production, in mixing and mastering. Everything, pushing himself to the next level.
Sean D'lo: It honestly was one of the most inspired and toughest processes I've ever had crafting a project. Forcing myself to learn beat making and pushing my pen further than I'd pushed it in quite some time. I was just really inspired with this one. CoZy and Random helped me see that I was in a spot where I wanted and needed to grow, but I was almost holding myself back. We talked during ne of our sessions about how strong the first installment in the Egress series had been for me at the time. Obviously it doesn't hold up as well now, but if you were there, you can still listen o it and understand where I was and feel that emotion. It was like a shared moment between me and all my homies. So we understood what that title meant. And I'd considered bringing it back in the past, but I never did it and I never knew why I never got it off the ground. I now know that something within me was telling me not to do that because the Egress title means something more special and I feel like it should only be reserved for those special projects where life and artistry meets at the same cross roads at that same moment. I was able to do a lot with this project and I'm very proud of the outcome, and I'm super excited to get more people's thoughts on it.
